EN: The Lion Fountain is located on Rue da la Préfecture in the north of Delémont's old town.

It has an octagonal trough about four meters wide and a painted column in the middle with a lion holding the city's coat of arms at the top. The four water pipes come from rams' heads and the trough is dated 1590 on the front.

The fountain was created by Pierrat Monnin. The lion with the coat of arms was only added in 1917, before that there was a sphere on the column. The painting was refreshed in 1987 and 2022.


FR: La fontaine du Lion se trouve dans la rue de la Préfecture, au nord de la vieille ville de Delémont.

Elle possède une auge octogonale d'environ quatre mètres de large et, au centre, une colonne peinte avec, au sommet, un lion tenant les armoiries de la ville. Les quatre conduites d'eau proviennent de têtes de bélier et sur la face avant, l'auge est datée de 1590.

La fontaine a été réalisée par Pierrat Monnin. Le lion avec le blason n'a été ajouté qu'en 1917, auparavant, la colonne était surmontée d'une sphère. La peinture a été rafraîchie en 1987 et en 2022.


DE: Der Löwenbrunnen steht an der Rue da la Préfecture im Norden der Altstadt von Delémont.

Er hat einen achteckigen Trog von etwa vier Metern Breite und in der Mitte eine bemalte Säule mit einem Löwen, der das Stadtwappen hält, an der Spitze. Die vier Wasserleitungen kommen aus Widderköpfen und an der Vorderseite is der Trog mit 1590 datiert.

Der Brunnen wurde von Pierrat Monnin geschaffen. Der Löwe mit dem Wappen kam erst 1917 hinzu, vorher war auf der Säule eine Kugel. Die Bemalung wurde 1987 und 2022 aufgefrischt.
