"Monasterio de Nuestra Señora del Valle (Santa Clara)
En la calle Sevilla, se encuentra el Monasterio de Santa María del Valle, conocido popularmente como Convento de Santa Clara. Fundado en 1428 por el primer Señor de Feria y su esposa Elvira Laso de Mendoza, su clausura vendría a satisfacer la vocación monástica de dos de sus hijas y su iglesia a servir de panteón del linaje.

La capilla mayor de la iglesia, que fue concluida en 1454, guarda las esculturas funerarias de Garci Laso de la Vega y de su hermano el primer conde de Feria y su esposa, obras relacionadas con Egas Cueman. En el retablo mayor, contratado en 1670 con el ensamblador Alonso Rodríguez Lucas, se venera la imagen de alabastro de la titular del monasterio, obra de la primera mitad del siglo XV.
En el lado de la epístola se halla la capilla funeraria del segundo duque de Feria, dedicada a San Raimundo de Peñafort y construida hacia 1616. Aledaña a la misma, pero abierta a la nave, está la diminuta capilla de las Reliquias, en la que se guarda una espléndida colección de relicarios donados por el segundo duque y su madre en 1603.

La clausura, que no puede visitarse, se articula en torno a un claustro del siglo XV, en cuyos muros se conservan algunas pinturas góticas.
Fueron importantes las reformas realizadas en los siglos XVI y XVII, fruto de las cuales son el refectorio, el coro y su sillería, el patio de la Portería o la nueva enfermería y sus patios clasicistas.
Las monjas conservan numerosos objetos de culto, muchos de ellos procedentes de sucesivas donaciones de la Casa ducal, entre los que se encuentran el conjunto de vestiduras litúrgicas de difuntos, conocido como terno de las Águilas, y la cruz procesional y los ciriales de plata y ébano".

"Monastery of Our Lady of the Valley (Santa Clara)
On Sevilla Street is the Monastery of Santa María del Valle, popularly known as the Convent of Santa Clara. Founded in 1428 by the first Lord of Feria and his wife, Elvira Laso de Mendoza, its enclosure fulfilled the monastic vocation of two of their daughters, and its church served as the lineage pantheon.

The main chapel of the church, completed in 1454, houses the funerary sculptures of Garci Laso de la Vega and his brother, the first Count of Feria and his wife, works associated with Egas Cueman. The alabaster image of the monastery's patron saint, a work from the first half of the 15th century, is venerated in the main altarpiece, commissioned in 1670 by the assembler Alonso Rodríguez Lucas. On the Epistle side is the funerary chapel of the second Duke of Feria, dedicated to Saint Raymond of Peñafort and built around 1616. Adjacent to it, but open to the nave, is the tiny Chapel of the Relics, which houses a splendid collection of reliquaries donated by the second duke and his mother in 1603.

The cloister, which cannot be visited, is built around a 15th-century cloister, whose walls preserve some Gothic paintings. Significant renovations were carried out in the 16th and 17th centuries, resulting in the refectory, the choir stalls, the Porter's Courtyard, and the new infirmary and its Classicist courtyards. The nuns keep numerous religious objects, many of them from successive donations from the Ducal House. These include the set of liturgical vestments for the deceased, known as the terno de las Águilas (Eagle's Suit), and the processional cross and the silver and ebony candlesticks.
