"Buried here, General Razout became an officer in January 1792. A battalion commander on the battlefield on 5 November 1797, he assisted Bonaparte during his coup d’état of 18 Brumaire. A general in 1807, then a divisional general in 1811, he distinguished himself on many battlefields of the Empire, in particular Novi, Austerlitz, Jena, Lubeck, Eylau, Saragossa, Wagram, Mojaisk and Dresden. He died in Metz on 10 January 1820. His name appears on the columns of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris."
