This small metal building houses City Hall. Nearby are the municipal standpipe, the fire station, and the town park.
The first settlement here might have been a French trading post. The site was known as "De la plaine" (of the plain) for many years. The settlement grew a bit when the railroad came through in the 1870s and adopted the name "Delaplaine" in 1875; the town incorporated in 1912. The town's schools closed in 2007 due to consolidation, and some families with children left at that time; the population fell from over a hundred in 2010 to about seventy in 2020.
