This pavilion is located in Cayuga, Ontario behind the Community Services Haldimand building. The pavilion is dedicated to Marty McSorley, a former NHL player who grew up near Cayuga. The pavilion was dedicated November 12th, 2007.
PERSON
Marty McSorley was known as an enforcer player who played with Wayne Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers during their 1987 and 1988 Stanley Cup wins.
He was also involved with two infamous events, the first being at the Stanley Cup Playoffs with the LA Kings in 1993 against Montreal in Game 2, his stick was deemed illegal and the game was tied on the ensuing power play.
The second event being an on ice-altercation with Donald Brashear where he hit him with a stick on the head. Following a trial he was sentenced to 18 months probation.
