The early day drinking fountain in Ponca City, OK, known as the People, Horse, and Dog Fountain, was the first public water fountain in the city. It was acquired by the city in 1902 for $300 and features a bowl structure for dogs, a larger bowl for horses, and a smaller bowl for people. The fountain was designed by Mrs. George Fluke, the designer of the Oklahoma state flag. The fountain was restored by the DAR Ponca City Chapter in 1954 and again in 2016 by the Historic Reenactor Group in memory of founder Phil Bandy who so eloquently portrayed B.S. Barnes, Ponca City’s first Mayor, for so many years. #poncacitymainstreet #poncacityhistory
