First opened in 1958 this McDonald's was the first to be opened in the Tampa Bay area. Many think it was the first one in Florida, but that designation goes to a McDonald's in Jacksonville. This McDonald's was the first to be opened by the Casper family and is one of more than 50 owned by the family.
The original building was a walk-up only McDonald's and has been razed twice for newer designs. This is the third building to be built on this location. Note the two story apartments on the right side of the photos are still there, along with the palm trees on the adjacent side street.
