Lavender Bay is located close to the well known Sydney Harbour Bridge and is a quiet bay with good road access for canoes to be put into the water. There are many options for trips along Sydney Harbour or the quieter Parramatta River.

There are several challenges for the inexperience canoeist. The harbour is tidal so currents must be included in travels. There is lots of traffic on the water. This includes ferries which have right of way. There are also a few large boats on the harbour including small cruise boats which can fit under the Harbour Bridge.

Experienced canoeists will enjoy the sights of the harbour and it is common to see them on the harbour.
