"The sculpture group by Cloppenburg artist Peter Lehmann commemorates an event from 1929:
A farmer in debt had his castrated boar, a so-called Eberborg, seized and sold to cover his tax debts. As a sign of solidarity in times of economic hardship, a group of farmers kidnapped the boar, which had already been sold, from the new owner's stable and returned it to its former owner. The successful protest movement was discussed in a special session of the state parliament. The penalties imposed for this break-in and breach of the peace were lifted."
