This State of New Mexico Highway Commission Disk is high on a rocky ledge on the south side of U.S. Route 66, which runs just south of I-40 here. There is no parking nearby but the shoulders are wide enough to get completely off the road. This is about a Terrain 3 Benchmark; you will have to work your way up to near the top of the ridge to find it. Mind the cactus and the snakes! The disk is set on a small rock. There is a witness post nearby but the sign has been mangled to the point that it is easy to miss. The disk is stamped with the designation I40 R3 but does not carry a year.
