Located at 815 Kerr Line, Foresters Falls, Ontario (K0J 1V0), this large wooden barn forms part of Ballycasle Farm, established by the McLeese family in 1823. The farm has remained an active part of the rural community for generations, preserving both the landscape and the agricultural heritage of the Ottawa Valley.

The barn itself is a traditional, rectangular wooden structure with vertical plank siding that has weathered to a silvery-grey tone. Its roof, made of corrugated metal sheets with fading traces of paint, shows both age and resilience, standing as a practical shelter for farm activities. The barn’s scale and design provide ample space for both livestock and crops, with attached fenced enclosures indicating that it continues to serve its original agricultural purpose.

The site is not only significant for its farming heritage but also for its cultural connections. Just next to the farm lies the McLeese / McLaren’s Settlement Cemetery, a historic burial ground linked to the early settlers of the area. A visit to this barn can therefore be paired with a stop at the cemetery, offering a glimpse into the intertwined stories of family, land, and community history that shaped Foresters Falls.

This barn, with its long-standing use, historical farmstead, and proximity to a settlement cemetery, offers visitors an authentic look at the enduring agricultural and pioneer legacy of rural Ontario.
