The Cadron Settlement was one of many places along the river where ferryboats had to drop off loads of indians when the river was too low to make further progress upstream. At one point more than 700 passengers were offloaded in a single day.

Today the park is the site of a replica of a late 1800's blockhouse, several picnic tables, pavilions, and a hiking trail.

There are two NPS/NHT markers at the listed coordinates that overlook the river, as well as a few other markers placed by the corps nearby.

There is also a geocache on the opposite side of the building and another nearby in the park.
