This elevated water storage vessel is located behind the John W. Neal Middle School, at the intersection of Highway 98 and Baptist Road (SR1807).

The age of the tank is unknown, but the style is typical of the 1930's. This probably was the water supply for the original school on the site, when this was a rural area.

The tower is approximately 120 feet tall and has cellular antennas mounted on the side.

At the site:
*Neal Middle School buildings and ball fields
*Satellite office for the Durham County Sheriff Department

There are several roadside benchmarks along Baptist Road, which is a dead end, due to construction of Falls Lake. Click "Nearest Benchmarks" for details.
