The Steel Winds wind farm facility will produce 20 Megawatts of pollution free electric power on the site of the former Lackawanna Steel plant along the shore of Lake Erie. It is believed that Steel Winds is the first "urban" wind farm in the country, and also the first on a "brownfield" site. At the start of operation in 2007, Steel Winds will produce enough electricity for 6,000 homes in the area. The windmills are each 400 feet tall to the tip of the blade at its highest point. There are future plans to expand the wind farm to 20 windmills, which would produce 50 Megawatts of power.
The listed coordinates take you to a park along the lake where the windmills can be observed. This is the closest you can legally come on land, as the windmills are on private land.
