Trail of Tears NHT - Arkansas Post - Trail of Tears on Waymarking.com

One of the many sites designated by the NHT as significant enough to deserve a passport stamping station...but not much else as yet.

During the indian removal program the Post served as little more than an overnight stop and occasional transfer point along the water route.

Little remains today, not even the river, which constantly shifted and "meandered" until the lock-and-dam system was put in place in the 1960's to control flooding and make the river navigable year round.

There are however several historical plaques and artifacts in and around the visitor center, some of which cover the period of indian occupation of these lands, though not the removal itself.
