Newfound Gap, Tennessee-North Carolina State Line, (5048 Feet) - Elevation Signs on Waymarking.com

The Newfound Gap Overlook is the highest point (elevation 5,048 feet) along Newfound Gap Road. The gap marks the Tennessee-North Carolina state line and also marks the spot where President Franklin Roosevelt dedicated the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in 1940. This spot offers spectacular views of both states; as well as, access to the famed Appalachian Trail.
