Saint Simons Island Pier is a popular fishing destination on the island. Not only can you fish from it, but it provides a great vista from which to watch the sunset as well as to look back on the lighthouse on the island.
According to the Island Bait Shop web site, fish caught from the pier include "Black Drum, Sharks, Whiting, Sheepshead, Flounder, Trout, Redfish and other species". Crabbing is also possible from the pier.
