The original photo is a 1903 photo put on a postcard. It was taken shortly after construction was finished in 1903. The real challenge in this one was to get a clear shot now because of the massive 100 year old trees in the new photo and being able to stand in the same position as the original photographer since he apparently took the photo from what is now a very busy street.
The Confederate Monument in the original photo is still there but from this angle it is obscured by the trees.
