The Slagle House (1929) is a two-story limestone residence which has been
converted into an art museum. The Tudor Revival style building is located along
a curve of the Ouachita River in one of Monroe's older residential
neighborhoods. Although it has experienced interior modifications, the home's
exterior remains virtually intact...
The house was built for Elmer C. Slagle, a Monroe lumberman, in 1929.
Later it was acquired by the Masurs, one of Monroe's most prestigious families.
In 1963 the Sig Masur Estate donated the home to the City of Monroe for the
express purpose of creating a permanent art museum.~
