The community of Bend was established in 1904. The Oregon Trunk Railroad reached Bend from the north in 1911 and a depot was built at that time a block north of the railroad overpass over Greenwood Avenue (N 44° 03.657’ W 121° 18.411’). Bend was the end of the line until 1928 when the Great Northern Railroad reached Bend from the south. In the 1990’s planning was underway for construction of a new route for Hwy. 97 through Bend and the original Depot was in the way. The original Depot was taken apart, stone by stone and reassembled at a new location (

To replace the original depot, the railroad built a new one just west of the Third Street Underpass at 240 SE Railroad St. This depot now serves as the offices for the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railroad in Bend.
