The owner, George E. Dimopoulos, came to America from Greece in 1969, and worked in his Aunt's Coney Island Restaurant, the "Senate Coney Island" which dated back to 1937, and situated next to the former Senate Theater on Michigan Avenue, west of Livernois, in the southwestern part of Detroit.

Mr Dimopoulos opened his own first Coney Island in 1972, at 22375 Ecorse Road, in Taylor, Michigan. Over the years he has expanded to five (5) Coney Island Restaurants as of 2008. they are located at:

22375 Ecorse Road, in Taylor, Michigan
34359 Plymouth Road Livonia, Michigan
3345 Greenfield Road Dearborn, Michigan
39430 Dun Rovin Drive Northville, Michigan
25900 Pontiac Trail South Lyon, Michigan

The original Coney Island, at 22375 Ecorse Road, in Taylor, Michigan is located in a shopping mall, once known as Taylor Town, lovingly referred to as "Taylortucky"

For those of you who have never had the pleasure of devouring a Michigan "Coney Island Hot Dog", if the chance arises, do so.

The "chili" used at MOST Michigan Coney Island Restaurants has a taste of it's own. don't think "A&W Root Beer Coney's", or "Sonic Drive-In Coney's", they don't even compare. The chili used on a "Coney Island" makes or breaks a "Coney Island Hot Dog", and A&W, Sonic, Nathan's and all the other supposed "Coney Island's" can't compete with the Coney Island Chili served in Michigan Coney Island Restaurants.
