Lowell Mills. From 1830 to 1880 the community of Lowell Mills thrived here along Driftwood River. There were two grist mills, a cooperage, a shoemaker’s shop, a distillery, a saw mill, a woolen mill, an inn and general store. When the mills closed, the town was abandoned.
