This superb viewing platform offers views from the sand hills of Cronulla in the north to Pigeon House Mountain in the south. The Lookout is located on Jack Cleary Memorial Drive off Saddleback Mountain Road, Kiama.
The Lookout is open from 8-4 daily. There is a table for picnickers and a concrete slab noting distances and directions to other locales. Approach from Kiama, proceed south from the P.O. down Manning Street turning right over train line and straight up hill (Saddleback Road) past high school. At a high point you will see the Memorial drive turning up the left fork, up a steep rise. Drive up, there is plenty of room to park and turn around at the top.
The reserve itself is modest but the mountain, which is the point where the escarpment turns into a series of foothills which run down to the sea, offers one of the most dramatic and interesting views on the whole of the south coast. From Saddleback you look over the Kiama coast and are able to see north to the steelworks of Wollongong, south to Jervis Bay and inland to the edges of Jamberoo and the Kangaroo Valley.
