Using double shifts the Tower Theatre was built in just 3 months. The first manager (Ken Hodkinson) was the son of the founder of Paramount Pictures. The Tower Theatre thrived for years offering first run movies and vaudeville shows. Multiplex cinema led to it demise and eventually the building was basically abandoned in 1996 due to the buildings continued deterioration. In 1997 The Tower Theatre Foundation, a non-profit group formed and in a grass roots effort began the long process of purchasing and restoring the building. Today the theater is a center for local and international performances.
