A small angle building is the cemetery's old receiving vault. It was used to hold caskets during the winter months when the frozen ground prevented hand digging of graves.
Julius Cesar Tibbs (1812 - 1903) a runaway slave is burried in section 6, lot 65 but he has no stone.
Supposedly four Gypsy queens and at least one king are burried in the cemetery.
The Bedford Historical Society is in the process of documenting each marker in the cemetery as to size, shape, type of stone, inscriptions and photographs.
They also have begun a stone resturation program. The first markers were repaired in June 2008. This is a ongoing program as funds become available.
