On our visit here we discovered that this sanctuary was not open to the public unless there is an event happening there and under supervision. We were able to see the area with bird housing and many wooded areas. It looked like a wonderful area with so many different varieties of birds listed on the web that can be seen here.
Earlier this year they had the Crosby Sanctuary Nest Box Donations 2008 drive. The premise was if you donated a nest box (store bought or home made) designed for Bluebirds, Woodpeckers, Flycatchers,
Prothonotary Warblers, Owls, or Wood Ducks, then Duval Audubon will dedicate it in your name and mount it at the Crosby Sanctuary in Orange Park. You could even come help mount it at their annual field trip/workday which was on February 2, 2008, as well as help monitor it through the spring/summer 2008 nesting season. If you would rather just donate the box, then they would mount it for you and keep you posted of it's (and other boxes) status through the 2008 nesting season.
