Pleasant Valley Cemetery is a nice cemetery, in an unfortunate location. The cemetery is near Malabar Farm in the rolling hills of Richland County, Ohio. Unfortunately Columbia Gas built a natural gas reclamation plant right next to the cemetery.
Of the 200 graves here, one can find the family of Ceely Rose, and her unrequited love Guy Berry.
As local legend tells it, in 1896 Ceely Rose was a young girl who was infatuated with a local man by the name of Guy Berry. Berry didn't feel the same, but he couldn't stop Rose's advances. He eventually told her that they couldn't be together because her family did not approve of him. This wasn't true, but Ceely didn't know that. Enraged, Ceely poisoned some food which she served to her parents and brother. They all ended up dying within just a few days of one another. Ceely was arrested and sent to a mental hospital in Lima, Ohio where she spent the rest of her life. Guy left the area at the time of the poisonings, as he knew Ceely was responsible when the Rose family first fell sick. He later moved back, and live the rest of his life in the area after Ceely was committed.
Pleasant Valley Cemetery is rumored to be haunted by Ceely, the Rose family, Guy Berry, or possible all of them.
