This locomotive is a TK3 2-8-0 "Pikku-Jumbo" ("Little Jumbo") Tavarajunaveturi (Freight Locomotive).
Type Tk-3 "Pikku Jumbo" locomotives were built between 1928 - 1953, in all 161 were built - an indication of their reliability. They were used on freight trains and slow passenger trains. By the 1970s they were used mainly in marshalling yards, and some were in use up until the time when VR (Suomen Valtion Rautatiet - Finnish Railways) ended the use of steam in 1975.[2]
Tk-3s were mainly built by Finnish manufacturers Tampella and Lokomo. However this particular one was one of a batch of 20 (Nos 1147-1166) built by the Danish manufacturer AS Frichs in Aarhus and assembled at Hyvinkää, Finland in 1949 [1]
VR have informed me this locomotive was restored by former locomotive drivers, and that it used to operate in the Rovaniemi area.
