In February of 1945, a B-24 flying a routine training flight out of Burley, ID got lost in fog and crashed into the side near the summit of Mt. Harrison. All nine crew members were killed. The recovery effort took three days due to the snow, ice and it's locate.
The crew members were:

2nd Lt. James P. Sanders - co-pilot from Montgomery, AL
Flight Officer Frank J. Pryor - navigator from Atlanta, GA
Flight Officer Stuart R. McMaster - bombardier from Schenectady, N.Y.
Sgt. Don J. McClure - engineer/ gunner from Dayton, KY
Cpl. William G. Doyle - gunner from Bay City, MI
Cpl. William J. Little - gunner from Donora, PA
Cpl. Charles H. Tucker - Wichita, KS
Cpl George M. Ellett - tail gunner from Green Island, N.Y.
