The 16th Street Station in West Oakland used to be the main station for Oakland, California. Due to damage caused by the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake it was closed, and its function replaced by the Emeryville Station to the north. Passenger service is also available from the Jack London Square station to the south. A redevelopment plan proposes to preserve and repurpose the old building.
