My grandfather, who had been a streetcar conductor elsewhere, would have referred to this as the "car barn," where the street cars would have been housed. A big garage.
Later, it would house the Burlington Rapid Transit buses, then those of Vermont Transit Lines (note the VTL logo). The glass wall is where the oversized overhead doors once stood.
Today, an ethnic restaurant, an associated grocery store and a couple of other small businesses occupy the building as part of the revitalzation of the "Old North End" of Burlington.
