CMA sits on 26 acres of land in an area known as university circle. The museum holds over 40,000 objects in its collection and has been expanded to allow permanent viewing of a greater portion of the collection. Through partnerships with museums around the world, special exhibits are brought to CMA for extended stays. There is a charge to view these visits, but the museum's collection remains free to the public. In addition to a gift shop and a cafe, the museum has a small theater area and presents a variety of movies. A dedicated, multi-story, parking garage is located next to the museum.
