This waterfowl sanctuary is home to two endangered Hawaiian species, the coot and stilt. It was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1971. This 143-acre preserve and nesting site for endangered and migratory birds has looping paths which circle the perimeter of the wetland sanctuary.
