The church existed here in Troutbeck village in 1506,and instead of the usual dedication to a patron saint,it has the unusual name of Jesus church.
The whole church was dismantled in 1736,and rebuilt, after the rebuilding, the church had a tiny railed off communion table in the chancel, with seating on 3 sides around it for the use of leading parishioners,A slender oak screen divided the church from the nave, where the pulpit, reading desk and clerks seat formed a 3 decker and plain oak benches extended to the back of the church ,In 1861 all this was swept away with the exception of the West gallery whereupon hangs the royal coat of arms of GeorgeII.
During the major restoration of 1861 the original massive Oak beams were re used,as was the small window which is in the tower.
The churchyard is notable for it's ancient Yew trees, and the war memorial cross which is made from a single slab of Lakeland stone.
