This police station has a public lobby open only from 9AM to 4PM Mondays through Fridays. The police department is staffed 24 hours a day year round by professional officers who are dispatched through the 911 system.
From the city's website:
"You should dial 911 only for emergency situations. Examples of emergencies would include the threat of immanent violence, crimes in progress, suspicious activity in progress, medical emergencies, traffic accidents with injuries, or other dangerous or life threatening situation requiring immediate attention."

I have had NO problems with taking photos of Police stations but please respect the fact that some services may be nervous about having their photo taken and inquire as to why... I have found that once things are explained they are more than happy to let me photograph the building, crest, chief... (they are people too!)
