On June 12th 2008, the Cedar river swelled out of it's banks and flooded most of downtown, and many residential areas of Cedar Rapids Iowa. Many bussinesses and homes were devastated, and still sit in a damaged state today.
The city is looking at several options to prevent this from happening again.
This building is located across the street from the Cedar Rapids Schools Offices. It is 3 blocks away from the Cedar River. The mark is about 8 feet high.

A picture showing the level along with any markers telling of what had occurred can be used. Better yet would be a picture of you or someone standing next to the high level mark, that would show if you would have been just wading or completely submersed.
