As noted on the history sign, Los Olivos was formed in 1887, and the land was originally part of a spanish Rancho Granted to Governor Micheltorena in 1843. It soon became a stage coach stop on the way to Santa Barbara. The railroad came through in 1887, and the city was born.
As stated on the sign,
Today Los Olivos remains a picturesque destination for visitors and residents alike, much like it was in the 1800's.
