When the action shifts to Los Angeles, the criminals meet with the fence known as "Redfoot." At their first meeting, another job is proposed: the theft of jewels from a known smuggler. Things unravel quickly as the briefcase containing the loot turns out to be filled with drugs.
"The Usual Suspects" (1995) is a terrific movie, directed by Bryan Singer at the start of his career. With a dazzling surprise ending and superb performances by the cast, the film quickly built up steam with good word-of-mouth. The work done by Kevin Spacey as Roger "Verbal" Kint was so well-received, in fact, that he received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Christopher McQuarrie also won for Best Original Screenplay.
