This pin can be seen through and over the fence that surrounds the De Young sculpture garden. It's not quite 7 meters tall (over 20 feet tall). As large as it is, people who want to get even closer have to pay museum admission to enter the garden. (Museum admission is $10 per adult.)
The work is named "Corridor Pin, Blue". It was created by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen who are famous for their glossy enlargements of realistic objects - in fact, they created the iconic bow and arrow sculpture named "Cupid's Span" which is on the other end of San Francisco at the waterfront. This sculpture was given to the museum by Bernard and Barbro Osher.
