"Murals Making A Difference In Downtown Fresno" is a project backed by "Creative Fresno", a group dedicated to keeping talented artists here in the Central Valley.

Back in 2004 "Creative Fresno" took action and developed a mural project to engage artists. The ultimate goal of the mural project is to wake up residents throughout the city and build community pride.
The once empty downtown area suddenly perked up with color and gave artists an outlet.
"Creative Fresno" member Donavan Byrn says area artists are amazing. "It allows their creativity to flow and makes them feel like they're becoming part of the community in which they're living" says Byrn.
The group is currently focused on making changes in the downtown area but would love to paint in other communities throughout the city.
"We are not a 5th tier city; we are something to be proud of" says Byrn. "A lot of the things that they create here branch out and spread to other cities; San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and unfortunately a lot of times they go with it" says Byrn.
