Visitors head to the Antelope Valley each spring to view the poppy fields in bloom. The Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve SNR is located nearby in the Mojave Desert. The Poppy Festival is held around Earth Day each year. The poppies usually bloom mid-March until mid-May. This year the bloom came earlier than the festival but there are still plenty of poppies blooming in the desert.
There are rides, food, arts and crafts, live music, animals... The festival lasts two days and it may take that long to see it all if you try to catch every show.
There is plenty of free parking and trams to take you right to the front gate. Adults are $8, seniors and kids are $5, Kids 5 and under are free. There are wheelchairs available for rent.
