The first known owner of the castle was Jan of Michalovice. His family continued to own the castle until 1468. It was deserted in the 16th century and decayed in the following century. Its tower, called Putna, was sapped, either to avoid highwaymen setting there, or while treasure hunting, and it has been leaning until the present day.
