Stametz Dam impounds the Sand Spring Run and is one of several dams on this creek. It is the prettiest with a small waterfall and a picturesque pond. The forest surrounding it is made up of hemlock, white pine and rhododendrons. It is along the Shades of Death trail, east of the park office.

This dam is on a map of Carbon County from 1875, so that date is entered as the latest possible construction date.
