This vintage theater was built in 1925 and in 1942 was listed as being owned by Clarence Robbins of Cape Theaters. At one time, Joan and Jackie Kennedy were attenders, but the theater was closed in 2001.
In 2007, Jeff Avery, of nearby Wareham, bought the theater and invested a considerable amount to refurbish it, but it was a financial disaster and was closed within a year.

In June 2009, the city of Bourne voted to demolish the building which has been badly vandalized and seems to have no viable economic future. Among plans discussed was a parking lot. The nearby antique store has used the are in front of the theater for displaying merchandise. The web site listed on the sign still standing appears not to be operational, at least not for the theater.

The theater is near the Cape Cod Canal Recreation Area at the foot of the landmark Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge, and the head of a bike and walking trail that extends up the canal toward the Bourne Bridge.
