The Dexter Post 419 was first organized by veterans of WW1 in 1920. From 1925 to 1931, the Post was inactive. The Post reorganized in 1931. Sometime between 1925 and 1941, The original charter was lost. A new charter was obtained Jan. 21, 1941. They movedto the current Post home at 706 Marshall St. on April 21, 1946. The Auxilliary Unit was organized in 1931 & recieved their charter with 23 names in 1932.
This Post has provided the 6th District with 2 District Commanders. The first was Gaylord Herring who was a very dedicated Legionaire. The 2nd is the current 6th District Commander, Steve Neal whose wife, Judy, is President of the Dexter Unit.
