The Auditorium Building, with Adler and Sullivan as architects, was built in 1889. It combined hotel and office space with a spendid theatre. It is one of the best known designs of Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan. It was completed in 1889. It was the dream on Ferdinand Peck, a Chicago businessman who wanted to build the world's grandest and most expensive theatre.
After many ups and downs, it's been the home of Roosevelt University since 1947. It theatre still has world class performers. It's location is just west of Grant Park and east of downtown.
It's a private university now but there are tours of building.
