Hubbard's Landing
Gurdon S. Hubbard, first
white settler in Iroquois
County, landed his bateau
here at the confluence of
these two streams in the
winter of 1821-22. With
employee Noel Vasseur. He
established a trading post
for the American Fur Co.
married to Watch-E-Kee
a local indian maiden.
He laid out Hubbard Trail
from Vincennes to Chicago
and, as a State Legislator,
secured Iroquois County's
charter in 1835.

Bicentennail Commission 1976
