Marker Text:
A building erected about 1748 by Moravians, for use as a church and school, stands on the side road, about 1.5 miles away. They conducted a boarding school here, 1745-51; and built a later schoolhouse, since demolished, in 1776.
The Oley Valley was a melting pot of religions. They included Catholics, Anglicans, Quakers, Mennonites, Lutherans and Moravians. All this thanks to William Penn.
And if you come in the fall when it's time to pick the pumpkins, the farmer across from this sign has the one and only pumpkin picking machine I have ever seen!
So take a pic of you and the sign, or if you like, drive across the field (where the sign is) and go about 2 miles, don't forget to go around the quarry and you'll come to an old school house. That's where I grew up! Just kidding! Do NOT drive over the farmer's field!
