In the film "The One That Got Away", a German pilot attempts to escape from the POW camp Grizedale Hall. He skirts a waterfall as a sergeant rides past on a horse. The beck now has a wooden sculpture in the pool.

Two scenes were filmed here.
1. The escapee gets into the woods and crosses this stream above this distinctive waterfall, shown on Ordnance Survey maps.
2. The horse is ridden up the forest track. Nowadays used as a stage in Grizedale Stages Club car rally.
There is one of the many sculptures in the forest, in the plunge pool.
