This sculpture is located in Faithful Friend Pet Cemetery, directly across the street from Washington Memorial Park. The cemetery is well maintained, but the sculpture and its setting have changed slightly as noted in the field further down the page. The description from the Smithsonian Art Inventory page reads as follows:
Noah's Ark with a gangplank projecting from one side onto the ground, and a cross mounted atop the deck. The deck is encircled by a railing. A variety of bronze and painted concrete animal pairs are in and around the ark. Two turtles are on the gangplank, two rabbits sit upon the deck, two owls and a number of birds are perched on the railing, two pigs peer out from the port holes on one side of the ark, and two squirrels look out from portholes on the other side. Around the ark are two deer, two dogs, two cats, two geese, and two ducks, in a landscaped oval of loose rock planted with bushes, enclosed by a short chain and post fence.
A plaque quotes Genesis 6:19
GOD SAID TO NOAH,
"AND OF EVERY LIVING THING OF ALL FLESH,
TWO OF EVERY SORT SHALT THOU BRING INTO THE ARK,
TO KEEP THEM ALIVE WITH THEE;
THEY SHALL BE MALE AND FEMALE."
